One of the most important things that can take you closer to success and create in you a better understanding of what life is to understand the power of giving. When you give unconditionally to someone, you will feel that it is a very strong factor that builds your life. You will find an immediate improvement in all areas of your existence.

There are many laws that govern giving and taking. Spiritual laws are quite analogous the scientific ones.

The spiritual laws state that you will get what you give. As you sow, so shall you reap. The scientific laws are in accordance with Newton's Third Law of Motion which states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. You can see the common strand running between these two laws. The implication of both is that you can create your own success by your actions, and there is no other governing factor.

Giving is not just about materialistic giving. Of course, donating money and all does form a large part of giving, but that is not all there is to it. If you give money, you are considering only about the paucity of resources in the recipient. You are subconsciously already judging what you are giving with what you will be able to receive after the gift. That is when your thoughts might become selfish. You begin to take into consideration inadequacies in people.

If you can give, you are a powerful person. You have the power of selflessness. But this will apply to you only if you truly give, i.e. give without any expectation of return. And you must give without any apparent reason. Giving presents for festivals and other occasions are not what constitute true giving. If someone wants something, and you happen to give them that particular something, then that is the gift we are looking out for. You must not have any expectation of being recompensed in any way. That would tarnish the true meaning of giving.

When you give, everyone becomes happy. You can actually feel the positive vibes building within you. You can see how your positive energies influence other people around you. And somehow the gift will get back to you even if you do not expect it back.

Sometimes someone whom you had gifted previously will come forth to help you in difficult times. And this will happen without you asking for the help. You will see how people you have given to in the past will surely make their returns, in whatever small measure they can. And some of them will repay you back a hundredfold.

You must know how to share what you have, without any conditions and keeping a full awareness that you will keep on giving whenever the need arises. This helps to foster a relationship of self and the universal spirit, or the Divine Being, or whichever Supreme Being the person considers to govern his or her life.

When you are giving, you are cementing your trust in that higher body. The Divine Being is also making a promise that He or She will always keep you bountiful so that you can keep sharing with others. You build an unshakeable trust with the Diving Being.

But, coming down to more transitory things, by giving you will get the love and respect of those whom you have made your gifts to. You will actually sleep blissfully in the knowledge that you have made someone happy and they will come back to you when you are in need. Humans are basically grateful beings and you will rest easy in the knowledge that the reciprocation will come back to you when you need it the most.

But that does not mean you must start building bridges of expectation. When you are giving, you must never think about what you will get in return, because that will destroy the whole purpose of giving. But, you will surely get it back. You will get it back from the people you have given to, and from the Divine Being. Things will come back to you in their right time, and sometimes you will not even realize when you have been paid back.

You must fill your heart with the joy of giving and sharing. You will feel this joy even with a simple thank you that comes when you have gifted someone.

Giving also helps you live longer. People agree that those who give a lot also live a lot. This happens because by giving you generate positive energies within yourself, and those strengthen your inner constitution, helping you to live longer.

But you must not give out of fear or some kind of selfishness. Your gifts must be from the heart. And you must be acceptable and understanding of the small miracles that will start happening in your life.

Giving is what defines people. That is why after you have made a gift, you can almost feel an aura of happiness around you. That is why you can realize the blessings from the receiver always following you, wherever you go.
